Inspiration

January 4th, 2010

I just lost my sweet New Year post. Yeah, completely everything. Gah! This happened due to my frustration of an uncommon bug which caused my blog banner to disappear.

I’m so flustered that day that I removed some of my older posts as an experimental. After I made several thorough trials and erros, I found out a solution. I turned off all my Lightbox plugins and everything finally worked like a charm. These plugins had been causing troubles all the way round even though I’d already tried the other version. Futile.

Forgetting to make backups, I lost entirely the whole post and ironic as it could be, the post was actually obtained from a Facebook comment which sums out all my miseries of attaining it back.

Forgetting my dismay, I think I’m currently suffering from a disease called the morning insomnia whereby I’m having difficulty to doze off now after my Subuh prayers. Although it’s what I’m supposed to do (despite of me calling it as a disease, yeah my bad), I am quite shocked with the change that pulverizes my normalcy.

So right now I’m basically still stuck up in front of the computer and playing Facebook. What a boring morning. Please, inspiration!

Before I forget, to those using Blogspot out there, I certainly think that you should at least make the comment box more appealing. I just got so pissed off when commenting to Blogspot blogs. Seriously guys.

Not to mention the annoying captcha, sometimes the blog owners don’t even provide the name and website option! How on earth am I going to comment that way? Log in to my Blogspot / Google account? No way man.

Please consider my suggestion. Turn that feature on. Otherwise I will just lose my appetite and vomit every time I drop by. It’s not like I hate reading your blog (I could still tolerate that flashing and eye killing small fonts and glitters) but please, be kind enough to your readers!

Please don’t blame me a snobbish when this happens. Thank you and regards.

P/S: Just got a little bit emo back then. But now me okay! Haha. Just a stupid ramble though.

Deskmodding Tutorial part 1 : Changing Icon

January 4th, 2010

1. Changing Desktop Icons.

First of all you must know how add icons on your desktop. The easist way is to change your default shortcuts icon on your desktop with any .icos. But for a real hardcore mods, I’d recommend you to use Avedesk. Avedesk provides a smoother and sleeker icons but most importantly it supports other image formats like .pngs as well. So this eases up our customization process. Download Avedesk 1.4 here.

1.1 Default Ways.

I could say this is the easiest one whereby most of the users should know how to.

Right click on your desktop shortcut and choose “Properties”.

4

Select “Change Icon”.

5

Select “Browse”.

6

Make sure that the icon that you choose in this method be in .ico format. If you have other icons in other formats let’s say .png, you can simply convert them into .ico by converting them using this website. Click here. Otherwise, just proceed to the next step.

And you’re done :)

1.2 Using Avedesk.

Avedesk will actually ease up all the troubles. The only thing is that you need to install the software accordingly. Download Avedesk 1.4 and paste it inside the folder C:\Program Files.

Make sure you open the “register” file before opening “Avedesk”. Once everything is done proceed to the next step.

Download my default settings for the hard disk here.

And the documents settings here.

1

You should have something like this. Open the .avedesk theme file.

2

Next right click on the theme.

3

This empty icon will appear on your desktop. If it doesn’t, try to adjust the x and y configuration according to your desktop as follow. This is my default desktop configuration. The values vary depending on your desktop.

Now;

4

Select the “Icon” tab and then click on the “Set Image” button to select your icon.

5

Select your icon and hit “Open”. Note that by using Avedesk you can actually open both .png and .ico icons. So that’s quite handy over there.

6

Then press on the “Shortcut” tab and follow the instructions.

7

… And wahla, your first icon! :)
